Rajčinovića Banja: A 32°C Spa Outside Novi Pazar

Rajčinovića Banja has three mineral springs, all at 32°C. That is below body temperature but comfortably warm for extended bathing, and Hotel Raj's thermal mineral pool is fed at the same figure.

The water is described as beneficial for digestive complaints and for rheumatic, dermatological, respiratory and gynaecological conditions. As at every spa in this guide, that is the indication set as it is published locally, reported here rather than endorsed.

A larger complex, Aqua Raj ND – Wellness & Spa, covering some three hectares, was reported as opening in 2025. We have not been able to confirm its current status, so this guide does not describe facilities it cannot verify exist. If a bigger wellness centre matters to your trip, ask about Aqua Raj specifically when you book, rather than assuming from the announcements that it is open.

Novi Pazar is the reason to build a trip around this spa. It is the centre of the Sandžak region, with an Ottoman old quarter that is a working bazaar rather than a restored showpiece, and a distinct culture that a visitor who has only seen Belgrade and Novi Sad will not have met.

Two monasteries within easy reach are on the UNESCO list as part of the Stari Ras complex. Sopoćani, with thirteenth-century frescoes, is among the most important medieval buildings in the country, and Đurđevi Stupovi stands on a hill above the town. Both are short drives from the spa.

That is an unusually strong hinterland for a small banja, and it changes what a stay here is for. You are not coming to sit in a pool for a week; you are coming to see the Sandžak, with a 32°C pool to come back to.

Hotel Raj is the obvious choice and the reason this spa is on the list. English is spoken, the restaurant is well regarded, and it has the thermal mineral pool at 32°C. For a Western traveller nervous about booking a Serbian spa sight unseen, this is about as low-risk as the category gets.

We do not hold a verified price band or room count, and rates in this part of Serbia are generally low, but this guide does not print a figure it cannot source.

Novi Pazar, 5 km away, has a full range of town accommodation if the hotel is full, and staying in the old quarter is a reasonable alternative if the town interests you more than the water.

By car it is 233 km from Belgrade and roughly three and a half hours, south on the Ibarska magistrala through Kraljevo and down the Ibar valley to Novi Pazar, then 5 km on to the spa. The Ibar valley section is slow in places but straightforward.

Novi Pazar is well served by intercity buses from Belgrade, Kraljevo and Niš, and at 5 km the spa is a short taxi ride from the bus station — one of the easier last legs in this guide.

Prolom Banja lies to the east across the Kopaonik massif, and Novopazarska Banja is on the other side of the town. If you are making a route of it, the natural continuation is south-east towards Kuršumlija and the Toplica valley.
